Living in a foreign city, where they do not speak your native tongue and everything from cuisine to customs differs, it is a breath of fresh air to have a guide, a map to set your course upon. To dive headlong into something unknown is always difficult, even terrifying, especially if this unknown situation or place has all the bad press that can be accumulated. However, once you peel off the outer layers of insanity and chaos, a very structured and colorful world appears, a world where the topsy-turvy atmosphere engulfs you in warmth only offered in its bosom. Welcome to Mexico, where food is sacred and traffic an everyday commodity, but also where the tourist’s satisfaction means worlds of gold. As your self-appointed guide, I will take you on a virtual tour of some of the best places to eat, drink, and make merry. Being born in Mexico City and having lived more than half my life in California, I have the advantage of belonging to both cultures, a foot in each pond. Allow me to combine both, and create for you a homey feeling in this turbulent world of mariachi, tequila, and rich, spicy food.
